- Hawk Properties v. Allstate Insurance Company, St. Clair County, Illinois (2019) - Obtained a unanimous defense verdict for Allstate Insurance Company in St. Clair County Illinois on a first party property case involving a collapse of building. The insured had argued that the collapse was caused by a vehicle even though there was no evidence of this. Allstate took the position that the collapse was due to long term lack of maintenance and wear and tear.
- Church Mutual Insurance v. Circle of Light, Eastern District of Missouri Federal Court (2019) – Obtained Summary Judgment in favor of Church Mutual. The court set aside an arguably binding $550,000 appraisal award holding the umpire and appraiser had not complied with the parties agreed upon appraisal guidelines. The court reaffirmed Missouri law that had not been utilized in 75 years.
- Reich v. Allstate, Jackson County, Illinois (2018) – Jury awarded only a small percentage of the damages. Total exposure was $175,000.
- Allstate Vehicle and Property Insurance Company v. Elmer Adams, Jr., Western District of Missouri Federal Court (2017). Obtained summary judgment on a defamation claim in the Western District of Missouri Federal Court. The insured’s counsel argued that the company’s communication with NICB and the Missouri Department of Insurance regarding a pending arson claim constituted defamation. The court rejected this argument and held that the company’s statements qualified for immunity under Missouri law.
- Allstate Vehicle and Property Insurance Company v. James Graham, Jr., Eastern District of Missouri Federal Court (2017). Obtained a full defense verdict in an arson trial. The insured’s counsel asked the jury for more than $500,000. The jury returned a unanimous verdict in favor of the insurance company.
- Williams v. Farm Bureau, Jackson County Circuit Court (2016). Obtained directed verdict in Jackson County, Missouri. Plaintiffs claimed more than $300,000 of personal property. Farm Bureau obtained a directed verdict, as plaintiffs did not make a submissible case on damages. The court’s directed verdict was upheld on appeal.
